Fashion Details Sketches week 5

During this week, we learned how to sketch our fashion flats by looking on the clothes given. We are required to observe directly from the clothes, identify what are the only details, and sketch directly on the paper.

This is one of NAFA's alumni design which the most interesting than others displayed in the class. It seems like a heavy thick big fabric which hang on the mannequin.

Fashion Flats week 3

Fashion Flats is one of the basic in fashion design. We as the beginners are supposed to know how to do fashion flats. We were told to bring our own garments which have pockets, fastenings, sleeves and collars. The garment was placed flatly on the table. Then, we are required to do the drawing according to the garment. The first time I drew too big for the sleeve part and  I make a correction to what the lecturer has guided me to do. In doing fashion flats drawing, we must draw every details on our garment.

Introduction to Fashion Details week 2

First time having a fashion details class and there was a question. What is actually Fashion Details? Fashion details are the parts that are on our clothes. Those parts include buttons, pockets, sleeves, hem and edges, fastenings, collars and the fabrics that are used. And those parts has their own variety which were shown in the previous pages.


Pockets are not only placed on shirts but also on the pants. So, there are various kinds of pockets with different names. Common pockets that we can find recently are welt, patch, and classic.

Types of collars

These are the types of collars that we have seen a lot. Some are on the shirts, some of them are made on dresses too. The collars that were mentioned during the lesson are peter pan, shirt, shawl, mandarin, ruffle, and turtleneck.
 



Types of sleeves

We also have mentioned some types of sleeves which are in this dictionary. Some of them are : Bishop, Bell, Puffed, Petal, Kimono, Leg of Mutton and Butterfly.



Types of fastenings

We have discussed about what are the only fastenings we know. And these are some being mentioned which I edit by myself. From the left to right, they are :

1. Buckle and straps

2. Hook and Loop (Velcro)

3. Zipper

4. Invisible Zipper
5. Hook and Eye

6. Button Fly
7. Fly Fronted Zip

8. Button and Button hole

9. Frog fastening

10. Snaps.





Types of edges and hem finishing

In doing fashion, we have to know various kinds of edges and hem finishing. They are called baby lock, roll tap, roll head, bound edge, face edge, picot, shell, scalloped, and lingerie. They got different ways to stitch and different results.






Types of fabrics

Various fabrics are being used but I will just get the fabrics which are commonly used in the markets. From the left to right, there are fleece, shantung, wool, polyester, linen, silk, duchess, cotton, nylon, PVC-leather, and denim. There are some kinds that we considered as fabrics (not in picture) but they are actually not, ex: chiffon, satin and organza. The 3 of them are weave.
